About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and technically driven Graduate Design Engineer to join our team, focusing on the design and development of Current Transformers (CTs) and Voltage Transformers (VTs) for industrial and utility applications. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate to gain hands-on experience in a specialised area of electrical engineering, working alongside industry experts.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and optimisation of CTs and VTs, including magnetic circuit calculations, burden analysis, and insulation requirements.
- Create and update detailed engineering drawings, winding specifications, and production documentation.
- Assist in prototype development, testing, and validation of designs.
- Perform engineering calculations, including excitation characteristics, accuracy class performance, and short-circuit withstand capability.
- Contribute to product improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and manufacturing support.
- Work closely with production, test, and quality teams to ensure successful product delivery.
- Maintain accurate and organised technical records, reports, and design files.
- Work with customers to provide techno-commercial offerings.
- Be a point of contact for customer enquiries and order updates.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals, particularly magnetics, AC theory, and measurement systems.
- Keen interest in CT/VT design, protection systems, and power networks.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Strong numeracy skills and confidence with engineering calculations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability.
- Effective communicator and a proactive learner.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
- Familiarity with CT/VT standards (e.g., IEC 61869 series).
- Experience with electromagnetic design tools or CAD software.
- Practical experience from an internship or project work in power systems, switchgear, or transformer design.
- Understanding of insulation systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
- Structured training and mentorship by experienced CT/VT engineers
- Development opportunities within a highly specialised engineering team
- Supportive, collaborative, and technically rich working environment
